We love changing our look. We can change our look completely with one project, such as a new outfit, or a new hairdo. Even new hair color can be life changing. We thought of something else that can change your look instantly. In fact, we can change the look of your whole mouth in one visit. Let Bryan Hill, DDS tell you a little about changing your look by using veneers.
What Are Veneers?
Veneers are one way that you can change the look of your smile instantly. You can change your upper or lower teeth, or both. Veneers are thin shells that fit over your natural teeth. They are usually made from porcelain, although some veneers can be made out of composite materials.
Composite materials are a mixture of glass and plastic. Whether they are made of composite or porcelain, veneers are cemented to your natural teeth to complete your look.
What Are They Used For?
There are many reasons people want to get veneers. Veneers can cover teeth that are cracked or broken. If one tooth is broken or cracked, it can usually be fixed with bonding or a crown. However, if you have more than one tooth that is broken, you may want to consider veneers. Veneers are also great for fixing multiple problems with your teeth, so you don’t have to go through multiple procedures. We can use veneers to correct a tooth that is broken, a couple of cracked teeth, discolored teeth, or gaps between teeth - all at one time.
Veneers can also be placed on one or both sets of teeth if your teeth are poorly spaced so that an adult can have a beautiful smile without braces. Veneers can fix teeth that are out of alignment as well, so braces don’t have to. Veneers can fix a variety of problems.
How Are Veneers Placed?
The procedure for veneers is very simple. First, you would come in for a consultation. We would talk to you about what kind of problems you have to need veneers. We would also make impressions of your teeth to make veneers or use photographs of your teeth to make a 3D model. We will also talk to you about the best color choice for your veneers to match your hair and skin color, as well as your eye color. We want your veneers to look natural. When your veneers are ready, we will sand your teeth down a little, and cement your veneers to your natural teeth.
Caring for Veneers
When you get your veneers, you have to treat them with care. Porcelain veneers are strong, but they can still be cracked or broken. To care for your veneers, don’t chew ice or eat hard food without cutting it up into smaller pieces. Make appointments to get your teeth cleaned and get a dental exam.
