Does Good Oral Health Have a Connection With Physical Fitness?

Does Good Oral Health Have a Connection With Physical Fitness?Good oral health comprises every habit that has the purpose of keeping good oral hygiene. On the other hand, fitness is a state of being fit physically while also being healthy at the same time. Both of them strive for good health, but are they related? The logic tells us that they should be since our body has multiple systems that work with each other constantly. By taking care of a specific part of your body, you are also helping your body as a whole.

However, most of the time, people do not tell you how one thing has anything to do with the other. Here are some ways in which oral health and physical fitness have a connection.

Body Mass Index and Good Oral Health

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a way to know if you're on a healthy weight, and you can obtain it using your weight and height. Recently, different dentists published a study that explained the relationship between BMI and oral health. It said people with a healthy weight and who kept a fit lifestyle had a lower probability of developing gum disease.

Heart Vitality And Good Oral Health

According to a recent cardiology study, you can reduce the risk of heart failure by taking care of your teeth. In more detail, the study found that people who brushed their teeth regularly lessened the risk. The reason behind it is that brushing your teeth keeps bacteria at bay, limiting the growth in the gums and teeth and keeping away bacteria from your bloodstream. That way, if you protect your teeth, you protect your heart and your ability to be fit. You can always schedule a consultative appointment with us for more information on good oral health and physical fitness.
