Making Your Smile Brighter for Photographs

Posted on 3/20/2020 by OM
Making Your Smile Brighter for PhotographsAre you planning to have your picture taken? Maybe you don't think your smile is not bright or white enough. If so, you can take care of this problem dentally. You don't have to Photoshop your photograph to make your teeth appear whiter or more glistening. You can have whiter teeth, whether you need to have your picture taken or not. The following information explains more about how to brighten your teeth.

How Teeth Fade or Lose their Brightness

Besides aging, teeth may lose their whiteness and brightness if they have cavities or they are exposed to certain medications. Your teeth will also dull from smoking or chewing tobacco, eating foods that stain the teeth, and drinking beverages, such as coffee and tea. Most surface stains can be removed with a stain-removing toothpaste with fluoride and a manual toothbrush. If you need to add more brightness, you need to use a product that provides intrinsic whitening or changes the color of the inside of the teeth. This is normally done by in-office whitening products.

Whitening Your Teeth

If you want a quick and effective way to have noticeably whiter teeth, your best solution is to learn more about in-office whitening processes. Usually, this type of whitening system takes under an hour to facilitate and is safer than other bleaching methods. First, a cheek retractor is inserted inside the mouth before a liquid rubber dam is painted on the gum tissue to protect against irritation. The bleaching gel that is used normally contains hydrogen peroxide and is applied for about 20 to 30 minutes. It is suctioned or washed away and re-applied for another treatment period.

If you want to brighten your teeth, an in-office whitening procedure may be for you. Some people, who are not good candidates for this type procedure, may opt for veneers or crowns. If you have any problems with sensitivity, crooked teeth or cavities, we will need to take care of these dental issues first. Call us today to schedule an appointment and consultation. Look your best for any picture you take.
